Recorded in Nov 2011. Listen now. What is the difference between “conventional” dentistry and the “holistic” variety? Isn’t it really all the same? Well, Dr. Victor Zeines and many of his patients would agree that there’s a huge difference. A holistic approach to dentistry uses non-toxic restorative materials, education and the creation of a supportive relationship. The holistic practice not only treats your teeth, jaws and related structures, but your emotional, physical, environmental and individual needs. The idea is that every specific dental procedure must be accompanied by an evaluation of the entire being. The importance of not simply treating parts of the mouth in isolation (as in a machine) comes from the idea that the symptom of a problem stems from a behavioral pattern that should first be corrected. How does holistic dentistry save your life? The answer has to do with understanding the deeper connection that all biological parts (including the emotional spectrum) are interconnected. The truth is that the mouth is often the first place you can take control of your health. Listen now.
